I can not speak highly enough of the quality of work that Ellen does. She worked on my daughter's wedding dress over a period of 9 months. Ellen basically redesigned the dress and fitted it and helped with every aspect of the dress, making my daughter love her dress. She was funny and fun and never lost patience with us. She even advised my daughter how to stand and walk with the dress. As an added benefit Ellen sent us to the most lovely veil maker. We are only sorry she will not be there at the wedding to see her great work.

Ellen is incredibly talented. She took in my dress more than 2 sizes and did a beautiful job. She knows her stuff, she clearly explained things about the material, the cut and why she was doing what she did.
Is it cheap to have your dress altered here? No. Is it worth it? Absolutely. I was super stressed the 2 weeks leading up to the wedding and lost more weight. When I went in for what was supposed to be my final fitting, the dress was now baggy around the hips. Ellen was kind and patient and despite being fully booked the next week, made time for me to come back in and make sure it was right.
I highly recommend Ellen, particularly if you have a big job with alterations.

Fabulous experience. I bought a Nicole Miller wedding gown and was unhappy with the cardboard-y shape the lining made in the bodice. Ellen had worked on a similar dress and had great suggestions on how to reformulate it. She added boning, trimmed the oddly asymetrical lining, took out the useless bra/garter, added cups, took in the sides and let out the hips, and added a bustle. I would have had no idea what to ask for but she knew exactly what the dress needed, and what its weaknesses were.

Ellen is simply amazing. She hemmed and took in my Lela Rose wedding gown and did it absolutely perfectly - what an expert! In addition, I had her make a delicate lace piece to go over my dress since I am religious and she did a tremendous job - the lace piece really made the dress! She made sure to keep the design true to my style and the craftsmanship was excellent. I will recommend Ellen to everyone for any alterations needs.
